It's that time again, the season of Lent is coming up and I love this time of year. It is a great time to reflect and make positive changes in your life, while remembering the sacrifice that God made for us. I use to "give up" a lot of things for Lent, but as I grew older, I formed a different perspective of Lent. So, instead of looking at it as "giving up" something, I look at it as "what positive things can I add to my life". I find it easier to re frame my life when I look at it from this angle.
Change is always going to be constant in our lives. I have been experiencing a lot of changes in my life since this year began. Last year was a time of my faith being tested (and no doubt about it, it still is being tested). But with my faith being tested, it has challenged me to improve on my life, or at least make the effort to do it. I am trying to take better care of my physical self and trying to work on my spiritual life. Doing this no-sweet challenge has helped me make better choices and during the season of Lent, I am aiming to write in my journal and my prayer journal daily and take up fasting once again. Writing helps me process, and it is therapeutic. Fasting is a great way to make a sacrifice with good results, whether it's emotional, physical or spiritual.
I look forward to this season of change, and as always, looking forward to a renewed spirit.
Random fact-of-my-life: Ice cold water (with ice cubes) shuts down that feeling of "i want something sweet". I love it!
